I am deeply saddened but not surprised to learn that Southwestern College is placed on probation. Much work needs to be done for SWC to have transparent administrative processes and an organizational structure beyond the traditional K-12 structural roots and culture. It must primarily serve its student body and community, and earn the respect and trust of all its constituents. Southwestern College needs someone who is not a career politician, does not belong to special interests, and is and will remain primarily focused on the interests of its student body and community. I AM THAT CANDIDATE.
As a seasoned professional who has taught and studied at Southwestern College, UCSD Extension and other institutions of higher education, I am running for Southwestern College's Governing Board in 2010. I am an objective outsider who believes passionately that community college education is an important key to the new generation's American Dream.
I am a committed business person who wants to refocus attention of the entire community, including the Southwestern College Governing Board, on how to better serve the interests of its student body and the region. For more details, I invite you to read "My Commitment to Southwestern College."
I have lived in Chula Vista for over 14 years, and served on the Chula Vista Economic Development Commission working on Chula Vista's vision 2020. Professionally, I have over 25 years of experience designing, implementing, directing and managing Telecommunications and Health Care projects, products and services. I worked at Qualcomm, Kyocera, Nortel, Alcatel, ...; and was a founder of a Diagnostics Imaging Center.
As a member of the Southwestern College Governing Board, I intend to seek policies that promote excellence and growth, while making it the school of choice for both students and employees. I also like to be a leader and a role model to our students who are seeking higher education to obtain careers in the fields in which I have demonstrated success. For more details, I invite you to read "My Governing Strategy."
It would be great to meet or hear from you, and to benefit from any feedback, suggestions or advice that you might have for SWC.
I hope to earn your support!
